For preservation, avoid continuous contact with water and other liquids. Wipe dry with a cloth or paper and smear olive oil over the entire surface.

Olive wood has the peculiarity of being very uneven in its formation, so we can find different textures and colours depending on the tree it comes from: one of the qualities that distinguishes olive wood from other woods. Its density and hardness causes cracks to appear during the drying process, which are covered with putty or natural plaster.

In olive wood we can also find "knots" or cavities caused by branches that existed years ago. Far from being a defect, it could be considered as another virtue and ornamental element. We must never forget that we are dealing with natural wood and not with an artificial prefabricated material that could be modified to unify its grain or texture.
