Olive wood has the peculiarity of being very uneven in its formation, so we can find different textures and colours depending on the tree it comes from: one of the qualities that distinguishes olive wood from other woods. Its density and hardness causes cracks to appear during the drying process, which are covered with putty or natural plaster.
In olive wood we can also find "knots" or cavities caused by branches that existed years ago. Far from being a defect, it could be considered as another virtue and ornamental element. We must never forget that we are dealing with natural wood and not with an artificial prefabricated material that could be mocked up to unify its shades or textures.
